Arantxa Guereño

Arantxa Guereño (San Sebastián, 1955) is a painter and art historian. She holds a degree in Geography and History from the University of Deusto and a diploma in Contemporary Art. Her artistic career has mainly developed within the realm of lyrical and organic abstraction. Her work, which does not aim for realistic representation but rather the poetic evocation of the plant world and landscape, has been featured in solo exhibitions at key galleries in San Sebastián, such as Ekain and Arteko. Among her most notable exhibitions are "A Tempo" (2026), "Jardín de tinta" (2010), and "Los trazos de la canción" (2005), all of which have received notable acclaim from specialized critics.
Technically, Guereño primarily works on supports such as handmade paper and polyester, using inks, watercolours, oil pastels, and gouache. Her style is characterised by a meticulous and subtle gaze that transforms rocks, lichens, and branches into a universe of sensations and suggestions, inviting the viewer to a slow, meditative reading.
