Mikel Díez Alaba

Mikel Díez Alaba studied at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia and the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid between 1968 and 1973. In 1972 he obtained a scholarship from the Juan March Foundation to study in Paris. Since 1981 he has lived in Menorca, consolidating his artistic career with a style linked to abstraction.
He has had numerous solo exhibitions, beginning in 1981 at the Ederti Gallery in Bilbao. Throughout his career he has exhibited in spaces such as Windsor Kulturgintza in Bilbao, the Galería 4 Gats in Palma de Mallorca, and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao in 2014. He has also participated in international fairs such as Art Frankfurt, ARCO and has exhibited in Germany and Switzerland.
In group exhibitions, he has been part of important exhibitions of Basque art, such as “La Trama del Arte Vasco” at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao in 1980 and “Arte en la Catedral” at the Sala Rekalde in Bilbao in 1998. His work has been included in various exhibitions on the evolution of Basque art.
His works are part of collections of museums and institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao, the Museum of Fine Arts of Alava and the Basque Government. They are also in the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Collection, the Bilbao Bizkaia Kutxa Collection and the Consell Insular de Menorca, which reinforces their recognition within the art scene.
