MARIANO ARSUAGA (IRUN, 1954.)
Mariano Arsuaga studied at the Higher School of Architecture of the University of Navarra the courses between 1971 and 1975, after which he decided to devote himself to painting. That autumn he moved to Barcelona where he settled until the summer of 1976 and returned two more years, in the early 80s.
In 1984 he received a Work Grant for the 1984-85 academic year from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa while painting in Alkiza and participated in the collective assembly of E.A.E. (Euskal Artisten Elkartea) for the III Anthropology Congress in Zorroaga. His paintings are selected in various exhibitions and fairs such as Ertibil (Itinerant of the Diputación de Gipuzkoa), 3 Editions of the International Contemporary Art Competition of the Navarra Festivals (Olite), Santiago de Compostela Biennial, Gure Artea, Artists of Donosti (Wiesbaden), Vitoria Biennial, INTER-ARTE (Valencia), Feria Estampa in Madrid, “31 Artists in three Museums” (Bonnat Museums of Bayonne, San Telmo and Guéthary), ARTE–EXPO. Jacob Javits Center (New York), "Cinco artistas, Relación entre Arte y Técnica“ (Arteleku), III Triennial of Graphic Art (Gijón), ”Isochronías" Calcografía Nacional (Madrid) to name some of the most important.
Since 1986 he has been living and working in Berastegi. After more than 30 individual and numerous group exhibitions his work is present in different private and public collections, including:
