Juan Ignacio Mendizabal (Donostia, 1964) he completed his Fine Arts studies in Bilbao and in 1989 he graduated in the specialties of Painting and Sculpture for the University of the Basque Country. In 1994 he participated in Arteleku in the course of Txomin Badiola and Ángel Baldos.

He has a long career of collective and individual exhibitions, among others we highlight in 1984, at the beginning of his career, the participation in the Contest of New Artists from Donostia and in 1990 he is the winner of this contest. The following year he was a finalist for the Gure Artea thus participating in the traveling exhibition that takes place in different cities, Donostia, Bilbo, Vitoria and Ghethary.

During his career he is selected and participates with his work in different competitions, such as the XI Biennial of Plastic Arts in Murcia, in 1999 contest of Unión FENOSA FENOSA, in La Coruña, in the XXIII edition of Caja Madrid sculpture and on two occasions in the competition of Vitoria-Gasteiz. He has been a finalist on several occasions; the award Bancaixa of painting and sculpture of Valencia, the Premi Antoni Gelabert of Plastic Arts Ciutat de Palma and in the sculpture prize of "Caja Madridid". He participates in collective exhibitions; in Valencia, Castellón, in the Balearic Islands Mallorca and Menorca, in León, Ponferrada, Zamora, Palencia, Valladolid, Salamanca and in Toro.

From here we want to highlight his work as the author of the books "Artearen historia Batxilergoa 2" published in Basque and in Spanish, both published by the publishing house Erein.
