Keixeta
Arrona, Guipuzcoa 1963
Keixeta is a Basque visual artist working across painting, sculpture, and ceramics. A self-taught creator, he was influenced by leading figures of Basque contemporary art such as Zumeta, Oteiza, and Chillida. His abstract work is marked by constant experimentation with materials and techniques, particularly acrylic inks and paper-based supports. The natural environment of Zumaia — especially its Flysch cliffs and the sea — serves as a continual source of inspiration in his creative process.
In 1989 he received the accolade of the a New Artist from Guipuzcoa, Villas de Zumarraga and Urretxu Award, Villa de Amur among others.
Throughout his career, he has participated in over fifty solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Donostia, Bilbao, Pamplona, Barcelona, and Biarritz, earning numerous awards in painting and ceramics. He has undertaken artistic residencies and collaborated in multidisciplinary projects, including books, installations, and films. Since 2010, he has combined his artistic work with teaching, offering ceramics workshops in various schools.
