San Sebastian, 1926 - 2008

He is one of the best representatives of the Lyrical Abstraction in the Basque painting. Started in 1947, his painting studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando from Madrid.

In 1951 he traveled to Paris to extend his studies and remained in the French capital until 1953. During these first few years, he made a realistic painting, influenced by the geometrical and definite forms of the cubism and of the metaphysical painting.

From the sixties he lives in San Sebastian, changing his style towards a greater abstraction. In 1962, he held his first solo exhibition.

In 2001 he received the Gold Medal of Fine Arts of Spain.
