Biography and Works of Eduardo Chillida Belzunce

San Sebastian, 1964

Born into a family immersed in the world of art, he is also an artist by vocation. He begins to take his first steps in that world early, already making his first sculpture at the age of four and drawing on any occasion.

His art, which is difficult to catalogue, can be framed within the figurative and presents his own vision of reality. A world, his world, sometimes full of color and sometimes very sparse in them, but, in short, a world where light and shadows are fundamental and as he himself says ”light is the one that with its shadows becomes my true teacher.”

They also have a lot of importance in their art, space and perspective. These are his words: "In my paintings, perspectives and spaces are very given. Basically, sculpting is the same as painting. Just as it gives the spark to one thing, it gives the spark to another."
